Cobourg at a Glance
With a scenic location on the northern shores of Lake
Ontario, Cobourg embraces peaceful country life and affords a host of outdoor
pursuits. Spend a day relaxing on the beach, golfing at a local course, biking
the city's trails, touring Lake Ontario or meandering through the flower gardens
at Victoria
Park. On Canada Day weekend the city hosts the annual Cobourg
Waterfront Festival, an open-air fine arts and crafts show that features hundreds
of vendors, outdoor activities and live entertainment. Known as the hub of political,
legal and cultural life since its opening in 1860, the city's Victoria
Hall is home to the Grand
Concert Hall, which houses an array of concerts and theatrical productions;
and the Art
Gallery of Northumberland, which features a permanent collection of Inuit
art and artifacts, ceramics, and oil paintings, as well as a schedule of exhibitions.
